Journalists were denied access to the 2 Division Medical Centre, Military Hospital, Ibadan, on Saturday, where pupils and teachers rescued from captivity in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State were receiving medical attention.
According to Vanguard, security personnel stationed at the facility prevented media workers from entering as military authorities maintained strict control over movements around the hospital.
Governor Seyi Makinde was later granted access to the medical centre to meet the rescued victims, while journalists remained outside the premises.
Several government officials were also made to wait outside as military personnel conducted internal security and clearance procedures.
The atmosphere around the medical facility remained tense, with security operatives closely monitoring individuals seeking entry.
Despite the presence of journalists and government representatives, the military authorities did not immediately issue an official explanation for the restriction on media access.
Only the governor was eventually allowed into the hospital to see the freed pupils and teachers.
The pupils and teachers were abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area and held for nearly two months before regaining their freedom.
Their release brought relief to relatives and residents who had endured weeks of uncertainty over their safety.
The abduction had also triggered protests by teachers and heightened concerns about the safety of schools across Oyo State.
Public schools in the state were subsequently closed as part of measures introduced in response to the security situation.
The rescued victims were taken to the military hospital for medical examination and further assessment following their release.
