Kantanka Family Celebrates As Court Halts Adwoa Safo’s Funeral Plans For Late Apostle

Members of the Aduana Kotoko Royal Family and the Kristo Asafo Mission were seen celebrating with Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena at his residence after news broke that legal action had successfully stalled the funeral arrangements organised by his sister, Sarah Adwoa Safo, for their late father, Apostle Prof. Emeritus Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

Video footage shows jubilant family and church members, dressed in funeral black with red headbands, celebrating outside Akofena’s home following the development.

It comes after Nana Akofena, head of the Kantanka family and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, instructed his lawyers to commence legal proceedings, alleging the family had not been given custody of the Apostle’s remains as stipulated in his will, among other unresolved grievances.

The move effectively threw the previously announced July 30 burial date into legal limbo, with Akofena declaring that no funeral would proceed until the courts settle the dispute over the will’s implementation.

Adwoa Safo, however, has publicly rejected claims that arrangements remain unresolved, insisting the funeral committee had already finalised plans in consultation with figures including Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and former President John Agyekum Kufuor, and that the burial would still go ahead as scheduled.

With both siblings holding firm on opposing positions just days before the planned funeral, the legal battle now appears set to determine when, and how, Ghana’s celebrated industrialist and inventor is finally laid to rest.
