Makoda Leads Kano’s Push For Strategic Education Leadership

The Kano State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, has joined education commissioners from across Nigeria at a five-day Executive Retreat to strengthen strategic leadership and driving sustainable reforms in the nation’s education sector.

The retreat, organised by the Committee of States’ Commissioners of Education in Nigeria (COSCEN), is holding in Abuja under the theme, “Strategic Leadership and Sustainable Infrastructure.”

A statement by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Kano State Ministry of Education, Musbahu Aminu Yakasai, said the gathering is providing a platform for education leaders from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to exchange ideas on policy implementation, infrastructure development, governance, and sustainable education reforms.

The statement noted that participants are also exploring practical strategies to improve learning outcomes, expand access to quality education, and deepen collaboration among states in addressing emerging challenges in the sector.

Speaking at the retreat, Dr. Makoda reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration to implementing policies and programmes that will continue to improve educational standards across Kano State.

“The retreat provides a valuable platform for peer learning, the exchange of best practices, and collaboration among education leaders. The knowledge and experience gained will further support Kano State’s ongoing efforts to transform the education sector in line with international best practices,” he said.

Makoda also commended COSCEN for organising the retreat, describing it as a timely initiative that will equip education commissioners with the strategic leadership skills needed to build a resilient and sustainable education system nationwide.
