Melania Trump is once again preparing for the festive season at the White House.
Melania’s office has issued a call for volunteers to help bring the annual holiday celebrations to life, with applications due by late August.
The First Lady has yet to announce a theme for the festivities, and curious fans may have to wait until December for the details.
In a statement from her press office, Melania announced that applications are now open for volunteers wishing to take part in this year’s White House holiday decorations.
“Americans from every U.S. state and territory are invited to apply for the opportunity to assist with decorating or showcase their talents as a performer at the holiday open houses,” read the announcement.
Despite the opportunity being open to the public, applicants must be at least 18 years old. Only individual applications will be accepted, and those interested must submit them by August 28.
Selected participants for the decorating team will be notified in October, while work is scheduled to begin in late November and continue for six days. Meanwhile, performers will also be notified in October before taking part in the White House holiday open houses throughout December.
Volunteers Must Meet Strict White House Requirements
3Those intending to volunteer for the decorating work must also meet several requirements. Notably, they must be physically fit, as the duties involve heavy lifting, working on ladders, and standing for extended periods.
Volunteers will also be responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and personal expenses throughout the decorating period. However, the White House will provide two meals per day during their service.
“Applicants who are conditionally selected to be volunteers will be required to submit additional information, including personal information, for a background investigation and other security measures,” read the third condition.
Those selected will either serve one three-day shift or volunteer for the full six-day decorating period, depending on the White House’s staffing needs.
Melania Trump Keeps White House Holiday Theme Under Wraps
The request for volunteers comes several days earlier than it did last year, suggesting Melania may be looking to kick off the White House holiday season sooner. However, she has yet to announce a theme for this year’s celebrations, and one may not be revealed until December 1 if she follows last year’s timeline.
Last year, the First Lady chose the theme “Home Is Where the Heart Is” when she unveiled the White House holiday decorations.
The décor also reflected the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and the founding of the United States, which was commemorated this year. More than 50 Christmas trees, 700 feet of garland, 25,000 feet of ribbon, 10,000 butterflies, an 18-foot concolor fir, and 6,000 puzzle pieces were incorporated into the display.
How Melania Celebrated Easter At The White House
Earlier this year, the First Lady upheld the tradition of the White House Easter Egg Roll by inviting families with children aged 13 and under to join her, President Donald Trump, White House staff, and their families for a day of festivities.
Tickets were free to the public but could only be obtained through an online lottery and were non-transferable.
Guests enjoyed the traditional Egg Roll and Egg Hunt, along with activities including egg coloring and cookie decorating. The celebration also featured live performances by the United States Marine Band, the United States Army Band, and several other entertainers.
Melania Trump Celebrates Seven Years Of FYI Initiative
3On July 27, Melania’s Fostering the Future initiative marked its seventh anniversary.
The milestone also came with the announcement of a landmark Statement of Findings and Notice PIH 2026-19, aimed at strengthening support for young people with lived experience in foster care.
Taking to X, Melania celebrated the occasion by writing, “First Lady Melania Trump’s Fostering the Future FYI Initiative Marks Seven Years with Major Program Enhancements.”
She received praise from supporters who thanked her for launching the initiative during her first term as First Lady.
“So proud of you for your Fostering the Future Initiative! You are the strong voice for these young people & we are so grateful,” one supporter wrote. Another added, “Congrats on seven years of FYI, finally a program that actually tells us something useful.”
