Senator Ali Ndume, the former Senate Leader representing Borno South, has urged President Bola Tinubu to communicate directly with Nigerians on major national issues rather than relying solely on aides and presidential spokespersons.
Ndume made the appeal while speaking with journalists after a closed-door meeting with the President. He said Nigerians should hear directly from their leader, particularly on the country’s economic challenges and security situation.
“I advised him, and he promised to look into it, to speak directly to Nigerians. Nigerians would expect that their leader will tell them what is going on, instead of other people speaking on behalf of the President,” Ndume said.
The senator also called for sustained efforts to tackle insecurity, expressing optimism that ongoing military operations against armed groups could deliver lasting results if maintained.
According to Ndume, security forces have intensified operations against criminal groups operating in parts of the North-West, North-East and other affected regions of the country.
