Team Nigeria has retained its status as Africa’s highest-performing country at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games after an impressive medal haul in the first seven days of competition.
According to the National Sports Commission, Nigeria has won 16 medals comprising eight gold, five silver and three bronze medals, placing the country fifth on the overall medal table.
The achievement also makes Nigeria the highest-ranked African nation at the Games.
The medals have been won across several sports, including Para Powerlifting, Weightlifting, Athletics, Boxing and 3×3 Basketball, as Nigerian athletes continue to deliver strong performances in Glasgow.
