Nigerian Businessman, Dende Egungbohun Bags Georgia State Honorary Citizen Award

A Renowned businessman and philanthropist, Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun ,has bagged the Georgia State Honorary Citizen Award by the Georgia State Senate, United States of America,
Conferring the honour on Chief Dende Egungbohun, Senator Dr. Donzella James of Georgia Senate District 28, said the honour was in recognition of his outstanding contributions to entrepreneurship, economic development, philanthropy, and community service.
This was disclosed in a press statement by the Kogi State Chambers of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture KOCCIMA and made available to Independent on Sunday in Lokoja.
The statement noted that the official Senate Resolution applauded Chief Egungbohun as a distinguished entrepreneur and community leader whose visionary leadership has significantly driven economic growth across Nigeria.
According to the statement, since he founded the IBD Group in 2003, he has grown the organisation into one of Nigeria’s leading indigenous conglomerates with interests in importation, logistics, agriculture, quarrying, hospitality, real estate, and other sectors that continue to stimulate job creation and national development.
“Beyond business, the Georgia State Senate paid glowing tribute to his humanitarian impact through the IBD Dende Foundation and IBD Global Impact International. The Resolution highlighted his extensive interventions in educational scholarships, healthcare delivery, youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and support for widows, vulnerable families, and low-income households.
The Senate also acknowledged his traditional leadership role as Oluomo of Yewa Land, noting that his generosity, humility, and compassion have earned him admiration both in Nigeria and internationally.”
The statement noted that the award has formally recognized Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun as an Honorary Georgia Citizen and Goodwill Ambassador, and affirmed that he should be accorded appropriate courtesies during his travels within the United States and beyond in appreciation of his exemplary service to humanity.
In his response, Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun expressed profound gratitude to Senator Donzella James, the Georgia State Senate, and the people of Georgia for the distinguished honour.
He dedicated the award to God, his family, business associates, partners, and the thousands of Nigerians whose support has sustained his journey.
He reaffirmed his commitment to expanding investments, empowering young entrepreneurs, creating more employment opportunities, and deepening humanitarian initiatives that uplift lives and promote sustainable development.
