Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged newly appointed public officials to uphold integrity, professionalism and accountability in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Oborevwori gave the charge on Tuesday in Asaba during the swearing-in of two commissioners and members of the State Executive Council, as well as appointees to the governing board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) and the State Judicial Service Commission.
The governor said the appointments came with the responsibility of strengthening governance and advancing development across the state. He urged the new commissioners, Brave Enodeh and Moses Ogodo, to demonstrate leadership and commitment to public service, noting that their appointments followed the resignation of two former commissioners who left office to contest elections to the Delta State House of Assembly.
Congratulating Cosmas Igbenije on his appointment to the DESOPADEC Governing Board, Oborevwori urged him to contribute to the development of oil-producing communities through discipline and dedication. He said the extension of the board’s tenure by one year was intended to ensure continuity in ongoing programmes and the effective discharge of its statutory responsibilities.
The governor also urged the newly inaugurated members of the State Judicial Service Commission—Joseph Ojobu, James Obeuwou and Fun-Ebi Edonyabo—to uphold fairness, impartiality and transparency in carrying out their constitutional responsibilities. Responding on behalf of the appointees, Enodeh thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve and pledged their commitment to advancing the administration’s M.O.R.E. Agenda.
