President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Accountant-General of the Federation, Dr Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, on his election as the chairman of the African Association of Accountant-Generals (AAAG).
Ogunjimi emerged victorious after a keenly contested election involving candidates from Tanzania and The Gambia during the association’s Annual General Meeting held in the Kingdom of Eswatini, recently.
In a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu said Ogunjimi’s emergence as Chairman of the continental body is a source of immense pride for Nigeria and a testament to the country’s sustained efforts at promoting transparency, accountability, and excellence in public finance administration.
The president expressed confidence that under Ogunjimi’s leadership, the Association will deepen collaboration among member states, foster the exchange of best practices, strengthen institutional capacity, and advance reforms that will enhance prudent financial management across Africa.
The president wished the Accountant-General a successful tenure and assures him of the Federal Government’s support as he assumes the important continental responsibility.
