ONITSHA – The Anambra State Police Command has received another major vote of confidence as former Inspector-General of Police, Rt. IGP Mike Okiro (rtd), mni, and former Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Chief Simon Okeke, paid a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Awka.
The high-profile visit, which took place on Friday, July 31, 2026, is being viewed as a significant endorsement of the Command’s ongoing efforts to strengthen professionalism, intelligence-led policing, and community-based security across Anambra State.
The distinguished visitors were accompanied by Dr. Michael Ibeh, former Permanent Secretary of the Police Service Commission, and were warmly received by the Commissioner of Police, recently promoted Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, alongside members of the Command’s Management Team and other senior officers.
The visit highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force, respected statesmen, and critical stakeholders in advancing effective policing, deepening public trust, and improving security in the state.
Speaking during the visit, the Command expressed appreciation to the eminent visitors, describing their presence as a strong demonstration of public confidence in the reforms and operational strategies being pursued under the leadership of AIG Orutugu.
