The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja,along with prominent monarchs from Oyo State, has paid a thank-you visit today to the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Aso rock villa, Abuja, over the recent release of Oriire kidnapped victims from captivity.
In a statement by Adeola Oloko, Media Aide to Olubadan of Ibadanland stated that Oba Ladoja, who is also the current chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, explained that the visit to Mr.President was also aimed at appreciating the efforts of his administration in tackling the deplorable condition of federal roads linking Ibadan in particular, and Oyo State in general with neighbouring states.
The royal father, who listed some of the roads such as the proposed dualisation of Ibadan-Ijebuode road, dualisation of Ogbomoso- Ilorin road, Badagry- Sokoto road through Ibarapa and Oke-Ogun areas of Oyo State, believed that when constructed, the roads would open up so many towns and villages along the corridor.
The first class monarch stated that the benefits of a good road can not be over- emphasised. He pledged the unflinching support and co-operation of “our people at the grassroots level in ensuring smooth execution of the projects.
On the recent release of abducted teachers and students at Oriire from captivity,Oba Ladoja stated that even though they did not doubt the capacity of the Nigerian security operatives to deliver,there were fears over the possibility of the victims’ recovery at some point.
“This is why we believe that the efforts of both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all stakeholders are commendable. The Olubadan noted that the thank- you visit was meant to start with the visit to the Oyo State Governor on Wednesday by the royal fathers but could not be made possible.
The royal delegation comprises Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Alao, Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola, Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola and Osi Olubadan, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi.
Others are Alajawa of Ajawa, Oba Adeyeye Oyetunji, and Aare Ago of Ogbomoso, High Chief Otolorin, who represented the Soun of Ogbomoso, and Onigbeti of Igbeti, Oba Abioye Basiru Olalekan, who represented Okere of Saki.
