Oyo Monarchs Visited Tinubu To Thank Him For Released Abductees, Road Projects — Olubadan

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has explained the rationale behind the visit of traditional rulers in Oyo State to President Bola Tinubu.

The Olubadan’s Media Aide, Chief Adeola Oloko in a statement on Thursday, noted that he and the other traditional rulers visited Tinubu to thank him for the release of the abducted students and teachers in the state.

Ladoja, who also doubles as Chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, explained that the visit to Tinubu was also aimed at appreciating the efforts of his administration in tackling the deplorable condition of federal roads linking Ibadan in particular and Oyo State in general with neighbouring states.

The roads, according to him, include the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road, the dualisation of the Ogbomoso-Ilorin Road, and the Badagry-Sokoto Road through the Ibarapa and Oke-Ogun areas of Oyo State.

He said the roads, when completed, would open up many towns and villages along the corridor.

“The visit to Mr President was also aimed at appreciating the efforts of his administration in tackling the deplorable condition of federal roads linking Ibadan in particular, and Oyo State in general, with neighbouring states”, the monarch said.

On the recent release of abducted teachers and students in Oriire from captivity, Oba Ladoja stated that even though they did not doubt the capacity of the Nigerian security operatives to deliver, there were fears over the possibility of the victims’ recovery at some point.

“This is why we believe that the efforts of both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all stakeholders are commendable”, he said.

It was athered that the Olubadan and other prominent traditional rulers in Oyo State visited Tinubu on Thursday.

The traditional rulers in attendance, apart from the Olubadan, were the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Alao; the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Oyebola; the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola; and the Osi Olubadan, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi.

Other monarchs at the meeting were the Alajawa of Ajawa, Oba Adeyeye Oyetunji; the Aare Ago of Ogbomoso, High Chief S. Otolorin, who represented the Soun of Ogbomoso; and the Onigbeti of Igbeti, Oba Abioye Basiru Olalekan.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator (Dr) Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has llaued Oyo monarchs and vowed overwhelming votes for Tinubu in 2027

He commended the state’s traditional rulers for visiting President Bola Tinubu to appreciate ongoing Federal Government road projects.

Alli, in a statement he personally signed on Thursday, described the royal delegation’s visit as a patriotic gesture reflecting unity, responsible leadership and commitment to Oyo State’s sustainable development.

He particularly praised the delegation led by Oba Rashidi Ladoja, who doubles as the Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, for acknowledging President Tinubu’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure projects across Oyo State.

The APC canndidate said the visit reaffirmed the vital role of traditional institutions in promoting peace, fostering development and strengthening cooperation between the state and Federal Government.

Alli also commended Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Alao, Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola, Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola and Osi-Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, for demonstrating exemplary leadership and commitment to Oyo State’s progress.

He equally recognised Alajawa of Ajawa, Oba Adeyeye Oyetunji and Aare Ago of Ogbomoso, High Chief S. Otolorin, who represented the Soun of Ogbomoso, Onigbeti of Igbeti, Oba Abioye Basiru Olalekan, who represented Okere of Saki and Mogaji Wole Arisekola.

Alli thanked the president for prioritising Oyo State through strategic road projects, saying the interventions would boost economic activities, improve connectivity and enhance residents’ quality of life.

He urged residents to continue supporting the Tinubu administration, expressing confidence that more developmental projects would come to Oyo State through sustained collaboration and constructive engagement with the Federal Government.

The APC governorship candidate pledged that the people of Oyo State would reciprocate the President’s commitment by delivering overwhelming votes for his re-election, saying the state’s appreciation would be demonstrated  at the ballot in 2027.

The President received the delegation alongside his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, Chairman of the Nigerian Revenue Service, Zach Adedeji, and presidential aide, Chief Sunday Dare.
