A former aide to the late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Lauretta Onochie, has said President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila rushing to institute legal action against the purported Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC, Adeyemi Adeniyi is not going to work.
Onochie said Tinubu, the Department of State Services, DSS, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and police should have checked to confirm the authenticity of Adeyemi’s allegations against Gbajabiamila.
Adeyemi had accused Gbajabiamila of demanding 48 percent kickback from a N27.3 billion grant to the PFIPC.
He also claimed that he paid N400 million to Tinubu’s CoS through a proxy and owed an additional N200 million.
Following these allegations, the purported DG was arrested, detained, and later released.
After his release, Gbajabiamila dragged Adeyemi to court for alleged defamation.
However, posting on X, Onochie wrote: “Rushing to Court to shut Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi up, ain’t gonna work.
“Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who operated as the Director-General of one of Gbaja’s Personal Agencies, said Gbaja demanded a 48 percent kickback from a ₦27.3 billion grant. I believe him.
“Adeyemi further alleged that he paid ₦400 million to Gbajabiamila through a proxy and owed an additional ₦200 million. I believe him.
“Who has checked to see if there are other Personal Agencies, e.g, the National Lottery Commission? What is going on in those Personal Agencies? Who checked? Not the @PoliceNG, not @OfficialDSSNG, not @officialEFCC, nor @officialABAT.
“Of course, who if not the National Assembly that partake in the looting of these Personal Agencies in the name of “Oversight Functions.”
