Police Arrest Suspected Robber After Shocking Discovery in Lagos

During a regular patrol in the Igando area of the state, Lagos State Police Command officers apprehended a suspected armed robber and found many charms and a locally manufactured firearm.
The suspect, 29-year-old Olajunja Segun Samson, was taken into custody when he and two other riders of a motorcycle allegedly tried to escape when they saw a police patrol unit.
The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of a suspect following the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol and assorted charms from him and an abandoned motorcycle.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, describing the arrest as part of the command’s sustained operations against crime and criminality across the state.
According to the statement, a police patrol team became suspicious after sighting a motorcycle conveying three male occupants whose behaviour raised concern.
The suspects reportedly attempted to flee on sighting the police, but one of them, identified as Olajunja Segun Samson, a 29-year-old male, was apprehended, while the other two escaped, abandoning the motorcycle in the process.
A search conducted on the arrested suspect and the abandoned motorcycle led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol and assorted charms believed to have been used by the suspects.
The command said the arrested suspect remained in custody while efforts were being intensified to track down and arrest his fleeing accomplices, adding that investigation into the case was ongoing.
Commending the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reiterated the command’s resolve to sustain the fight against violent crimes across the state.
He also urged residents to support security agencies by volunteering timely and credible information capable of preventing crime and aiding the arrest of criminal elements, stressing that the command remained unwavering in its commitment to tackling violent crimes and ensuring the safety of all residents.
The command further encouraged members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities through its emergency lines to facilitate swift police response.
