Less than a year before the build-up to Nigeria’s 2027 general election gathers momentum, the political profile of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate for the Ibadan South-West/North-West Federal Constituency, Mogaji Dr. Akin Fagbemi, has received another significant lift as Radio Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station, honoured him with its prestigious Pinnacle Performer of the Year Award.
Presented on Tuesday, July 28, the award recognised Fagbemi’s immense contributions to community development and humanity, further reinforcing his reputation as one of Oyo State’s most accomplished public servants.
The honour was conferred in appreciation of Fagbemi’s “immense contributions to the development of your community and mankind” according to the organisers.
Coming from Nigeria’s oldest broadcasting organisation, widely respected for its commitment to public enlightenment and national development, the recognition is being viewed by many political observers as a strong endorsement of years of impactful public service.
Fagbemi built his reputation through two strategic appointments in the state. As Chairman of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA), he introduced reforms that strengthened traffic control, improved operational efficiency and earned public confidence in the agency.
His subsequent appointment as Chairman of the Oyo State Hospital Management Board (OYSHMB) further expanded his record of service.
During his tenure, government hospitals witnessed renewed attention to infrastructure, better service coordination and improved healthcare delivery, initiatives that won commendation from stakeholders across the state.
Beyond public office, Fagbemi has remained active in community development, youth empowerment and humanitarian interventions.
His accessibility, grassroots engagement and support for vulnerable residents have continued to distinguish him within the Ibadan political landscape.
Receiving the award, the APM House of Representatives candidate described the honour as both a privilege and a fresh call to greater service.
He expressed gratitude to Radio Nigeria for finding him worthy of the recognition, saying the award belongs to the people whose trust and support have inspired his commitment to selfless leadership.
Fagbemi pledged to sustain his passion for community development and promised that, if elected to represent Ibadan South-West/North-West Federal Constituency in 2027, he would pursue people-oriented legislation, attract developmental projects and provide responsive representation that directly addresses the needs of constituents.
Political analysts believe the latest recognition could further strengthen his acceptability ahead of the election, especially among voters seeking competence, experience and a proven record of service rather than campaign promises.
With the Pinnacle Performer of the Year Award now added to his growing list of honours, Fagbemi’s campaign has gained another compelling narrative—one built not only on political ambition but also on a career marked by visible achievements, community impact and sustained public service.
