Republican Senator Lindsey Graham dead at 71, X announcement says

Republican US Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina passed away on July 11, according to a statement on Graham’s official Twitter/X account.

“Senator Graham’s family appreciates prayers at this time and asks for privacy during this incredibly difficult period,” the statement on Twitter/X read.

In 1995, Graham joined the US Air Force Reserves. During American military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, Graham put his experience in military law to use, according to his official website.

Graham was elected to the United States Senate in 2002 and re-elected in 2008, 2014, and 2020, according to the website.

Prior to serving in the Senate, Graham was elected to the US House of Representatives in 1994 as the first Republican from South Carolina’s Third Congressional District since 1877.
