Senate Confirms Tinubu’s Nominee, Zainab Marwa, As NDDC Board Member

The Senate on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of Dr. Zainab Marwa as a member of the governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), representing the North-East geopolitical zone.
Her confirmation followed the consideration and adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on NDDC during plenary.
The report, sponsored by Senator Ekpenyong Asuquo, chairman of the committee and lawmaker representing Cross River South, was presented by Senator Patrick Ndubueze (Imo North).
Presenting the report, Ndubueze said President Bola Tinubu had forwarded Marwa’s nomination to the Senate for confirmation and that the nominee was subsequently referred to the committee for legislative consideration.
He said the committee conducted an open screening of the nominee to evaluate her competence, integrity, experience and readiness to serve on the NDDC governing board.
According to him, the committee, after reviewing Marwa’s credentials and relevant documents, found her qualified for the appointment.
“Having carefully screened the nominee and considered all relevant documents submitted, the committee is satisfied that Dr. Zainab Marwa possesses the requisite qualifications, experience, integrity and competence required for the appointment,” Ndubueze said.
“Accordingly, the committee recommends that the Senate do confirm the appointment of Dr. Zainab Marwa as a member representing the North-East in the governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission.”
Following the presentation of the report, the Senate confirmed Marwa’s appointment.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio commended the NDDC committee for the swift completion of the assignment and thanked senators for their contributions during the confirmation process.
“I thank the committee on NDDC for the expeditious manner in which this assignment was carried out. I thank all my colleagues for their contributions,” Akpabio said.
He congratulated the newly confirmed board member and expressed hope that her appointment would contribute positively to the development of the Niger Delta region.
“I wish the confirmed nominee, Dr. Zainab Marwa, well as a member of the governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission. I hope that her contribution will enhance the development and progress of the Niger Delta region,” the Senate President added.
