Super Falcons Players Cry Out for Justice After Alleged $1,200 Theft by Hotel Staff in Morocco

Several Super Falcons players have reportedly alleged that more than $1,200 was stolen from their wallets while staying at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca, Morocco, during Nigeria’s preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The alleged incident is said to have occurred while the players were away from their rooms.

According to reports, the affected players include Esther Okoronkwo, who allegedly lost $700, captain Rasheedat Ajibade ($200), Joy Omewa ($120), Osinachi Ohale ($100), and Halimatu Ayinde ($100), bringing the total reported loss to more than $1,200.

Reports indicate that the players discovered the missing cash after returning to their hotel rooms. Esther Okoronkwo reportedly raised the alarm on social media, claiming she reported the incident to hotel management but was dissatisfied with the response she received. She also alleged that the money disappeared while housekeeping staff had access to the rooms.

The incident has cast a shadow over Nigeria’s preparations for the continental tournament, with the Super Falcons expected to begin their title defence in Morocco in the coming days. As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Marriott Hotel had not issued official statements addressing the allegations.
