Taraba Assembly Confirms TSIEC Chairman, Seven Commissioners to Strengthen Electoral Administration

The Taraba State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of a Chairman and seven members of the Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC), marking a significant step toward strengthening the state’s electoral administration ahead of future local government elections.
The confirmation followed a comprehensive screening exercise held during plenary, where lawmakers assessed the nominees’ qualifications, professional competence, experience, and capacity to effectively discharge their constitutional responsibilities.
Following the screening, the Assembly approved the appointments of:
Mr. Job Bala Aji (South Wukari) – Chairman
Mr. Joseph Buba (North Zing) – Member
Alhaji Usman A. Sarki (North Lau) – Member
Mr. Abubakar Audu (Central Bali) – Member
Mr. Ahmadu Adamu (Central Sardauna) – Member
Mrs. Juliana R. Tafida (Central Kurmi) – Member
Hajiya Zuwaira T. Kishimi (South Donga) – Member
Mr. Yakubu I. Angyu (South Wukari) – Member
Members of the Assembly expressed confidence in the nominees’ ability to uphold the mandate of the electoral commission and ensure the conduct of free, fair, transparent, and credible local government elections in the state.
The newly confirmed Chairman and Commissioners are expected to assume responsibility for overseeing the administration of local government electoral processes, voter education, and other statutory functions of the Commission in accordance with the laws establishing TSIEC.
The confirmation is widely seen as an important institutional step in reinforcing democratic governance and enhancing public confidence in the management of local government elections in Taraba State.
