“Those Who Want to Unseat Me Will Try” – Pres. Tinubu Says He Won’t Make It Easy for Political Opponents

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that he will not make it easy for political opponents seeking to remove him from office, saying politics is a contest that must be fought to the end.

The President made the remarks during a meeting with members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference, where he addressed issues surrounding governance, Nigeria’s political climate, and the role of opposition parties. Tinubu acknowledged that his administration inherited numerous challenges but insisted he remains committed to tackling them.

“The challenges are there. I inherited them. I didn’t run away from them,” the President said.

Speaking on attempts to unseat his administration, Tinubu maintained that opposition is a normal part of democracy but stressed that he would not aid those working against him.

“Those who want to unseat me will try. I won’t help them tie a rope around my neck. We’ll wrestle till the end. All is fair in politics,” he declared.

Tinubu also rejected claims that his government intimidates political opponents, saying accusations of persecution are misplaced.

“We will never, never intimidate anyone. If political opponents cry wolf, maybe they are afraid of their own shadows, or it is their own incompetence, not me,” he said.

The President added that while political competition is inevitable in a democracy, his administration would remain focused on governance and delivering on its responsibilities despite differing political views.
