Triple murder shocks UK: Manhunt launched after wife, two daughters found dead in Bedfordshire
A triple murder investigation is underway in the UK after a woman and her two young daughters were found dead inside their home in Great Denham, Bedfordshire, prompting an international manhunt for the woman’s husband, who police believe has fled to Zimbabwe.The victims have been identified as Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, known as Zandile, and her daughters Natalie, 15, and Nala, five, BBC reported.Their bodies were found on Monday after Bedfordshire Police forced entry into the family’s home on Carnoustie Drive following reports that they had not been seen for several days.Formal identification of the victims is yet to take place.
Suspect believed to have left UK before bodies were found
Police have named the suspect as 45-year-old Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, also known as Mark, a British citizen of Zimbabwean heritage from Bedford.Investigators said CCTV footage shows Tshuma leaving the UK through Heathrow Airport on Saturday using a British passport. Authorities believe he has since travelled to Zimbabwe and are working with international law enforcement agencies to locate him.Bedfordshire Police have released a CCTV image of the suspect as part of efforts to trace him.
Police appeal to suspect to surrender
Detective Inspector Lee Martin urged Tshuma to hand himself in, saying investigators were pursuing every available lead across international borders.“Unthinkable harm has been caused to those around you, leaving your relatives and friends utterly devastated,” Martin said. “Criminal investigations know no borders. Please do the right thing and hand yourself in to the local authorities.”Assistant Chief Constable John Murphy earlier described the case as “a deeply distressing incident” involving the suspected murder of a mother and her two children.Police said there is no indication of any wider threat to the public, although patrols in the area have been stepped up.
Quiet neighbourhood left stunned
Residents of Great Denham described the killings as unimaginable in what they called a peaceful and close-knit community.Local resident Jess Roland said she initially struggled to believe the reports, adding that such a tragedy was something she never expected to happen in the village. Others described the deaths as “absolutely horrific” and said the community had been left shaken by the loss of two young children.Flowers have been placed outside the cordoned-off property as neighbours mourn the victims.Investigators have appealed for anyone with information about the incident or anyone who noticed suspicious activity around the property on Friday or Saturday to contact Bedfordshire Police.
