Troops Intercept 675 Litres Of Smuggled Fuel Suspected Of Being For Terrorists In Adamawa

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have intercepted 27 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, suspected to be destined for terrorist elements during a strangulation operation in Adamawa State.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the interception occurred at about 3:15 p.m. on June 29, when troops of the 247 Reconnaissance Battalion conducting Operation Desert Sanity V intercepted the consignment along the Muva route in Mubi North Local Government Area.

The sources said the smugglers abandoned the fuel and fled into nearby bushes immediately after sighting the advancing troops, preventing their arrest.

The recovered consignment comprised 27 jerrycans of PMS, estimated at approximately 675 litres, which security sources believe was being transported to an undisclosed destination, with suspicions that it was intended to support terrorist logistics.

The recovered fuel has since been taken into the custody of the 247 Reconnaissance Battalion for further investigation and necessary action.

The interception forms part of Operation HADIN KAI’s ongoing strangulation operations aimed at disrupting terrorist supply chains, denying insurgents access to fuel and other logistics essential for sustaining their operations across the North-East.

Military sources said troops remain vigilant across the theatre, noting that although the general security situation is relatively calm, it remains unpredictable.

They added that troops continue to maintain high morale and operational readiness as clearance and interdiction operations continue across the region.
