Two Killed in Fresh Attack on Plateau Community

Two people were killed on Tuesday after suspected gunmen attacked Dorowa Babuje community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.A resident, Alfred Bitrus, told newsmen that the attackers invaded the community at about 1 p.m. and opened fire on residents before fleeing the area. Bitrus said the victims were going about their normal activities when the incident occurred, adding that the attack caused panic among residents.

The incident was also confirmed by the Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders (BYM), Rwang Tengwong, who condemned the attack and called for increased security measures to protect residents.Tengwong urged security agencies to intensify efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

He also called on the Federal and Plateau State governments to take steps to address recurring violence and improve the protection of lives and property in affected communities.The latest incident comes months after coordinated attacks reportedly left 10 people dead in the same community in February, according to local sources. The February attacks attracted condemnation from individuals and groups in Plateau State and beyond.Efforts to obtain comments from the relevant security agencies were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
