Iran has condemned the latest wave of US attacks on its territory, saying they have “rendered futile” all diplomatic efforts made over recent months to reduce tensions.
The remarks came shortly after the US military announced a fresh wave of strikes against Iran on Sunday, saying the operation aimed to “continue degrading” Tehran’s ability to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned what it described as US aggression during the past 24 hours.
“These barbaric attacks are not only a gross violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, but also a serious threat to international peace and security,” the ministry said.
It said the attacks had “rendered futile all efforts of the past few months to reduce tension and establish peace in the West Asian region.”
Muscat talks
The ministry also rejected comments by US President Donald Trump regarding Saturday’s Muscat negotiations, calling them “pure lies stemming from a state of helplessness.”
