“Why I gave my wife my biggest cheque worth ₦100 million” – RMD

Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has revealed why he gave his wife the biggest cheque of his career, worth ₦100 million, describing it as one of the most romantic things he has ever done.

Speaking during an appearance on the Morayo Show, the veteran actor explained that his understanding of romance has changed over the years, joking that these days, women appreciate financial gestures more than flowers and chocolates.

According to RMD, when he received the biggest cheque of his career, he immediately instructed that it should be handed over to his wife.

“The first time I had the biggest cheque I’ve ever had in my life, I had like a ₦100 million cheque. So I said, ‘Give it to my wife.’ When she got it, she said, ‘You want me to keep it for your children?’ So I said, ‘No, keep it for yourself,’” he said

The actor, who recently turned 65, described himself as an incurable romantic, adding that his wife deserved the gift. He noted that love is expressed differently as people grow older.

RMD also reflected on his new age, saying every birthday is a blessing because both of his parents passed away before the age of 60. He added that gratitude, healthy living and a positive mindset have helped him maintain his youthful appearance.

“I feel like I’m living in extra time right now. My parents didn’t make 60. My life is one of gratitude. I’m happy to be alive,” he added.

His remarks have since sparked reactions online, with many praising his romantic gesture and celebrating his enduring marriage.
