World Cup: 7 European clubs react as Spain beat Argentina to win trophy

At least seven European clubs have reacted after Spain defeated Argentina to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Sunday.

The clubs, which all have players playing for the La Roja, are Athletic Club, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Real Sociedad, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Recall that Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in the World Cup final on Sunday, thanks to Ferran Torres’ goal.

Reacting, Athletic Club, who have Unai Simón, Laporte and Nico Williams in their squad, wrote on X, “Three players from Athletic Club, led by another former rojiblanco footballer, world champions.

“Congratulations, De la Fuente, Unai Simón, Laporte and Nico Williams!

“The name and values of a club #UniqueInTheWorld at the top of the world. Whatever the destination, there is always an origin, a family, a home.”

Similarly, Barcelona tweeted, “Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, Dani Olmo, Pedri González, Pau Cubarsí, Eric Garcia, Pablo Gavi, Joan Garcia… WORLD CHAMPIONS!”

On their part, PSG tweeted, “World Champion. Congratulations, Fabián.”

Also, Manchester City tweeted, “Our Rodri lifting the #FIFAWorldCup trophy.”

Real Sociedad tweeted, “Mikel Oyarzabal is a world champion. He becomes the first player to achieve this milestone as a txuri urdin player. 5 goals and one assist in the @fifaworldcup Congratulations, Mikel!”

Also, Arsenal wrote, “Three more World Cup-winning Gunners.

“Congratulations to Mikel, Martin and David on a truly incredible tournament.”

Tottenham Hotspur posted a picture of Pedro kissing the World Cup trophy with the caption, “Our Pedro.”
