A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Chief Emmanuel Ogidi, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately find lasting solutions towards addressing the hardship that over 859 Nigerian returnees will face after leaving their source of livelihood as they return to Nigeria.
Hon. Ogidi made the call following the return of the South African victims of xenophobic attacks to Nigeria, totalling 859 in number, while 2 more batches are expected to return.
He pointed out the need for the federal government to make more policies that will address economic hardship ravaging the land so as to end japa syndrome.
The PDP chieftain expressed disappointment over what he described as the South African government’s response to the attacks, insisting that the incidents undermine the ideals of African unity and solidarity and represent violence by Africans against fellow Africans.
According to the leader, Nigeria played a significant role in the struggle against apartheid, recalling that the country consistently supported South Africa’s liberation movement through diplomatic, political and financial assistance.
Hon. Ogiri also accused the South African government of failing to adequately address the situation,while also blaming continued japa of Nigerians due to the failed leadership of the present administration, stressing the need for the APC government to fix the country.
He lamented that the president has nothing to show in his government rather than continued corruption, insecurity, poverty and economic hardship.
