Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has sent a high-powered delegation to Marama town in Hawul Local Government Area to commiserate with the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Inusa Ndahi, over the death of his father.
The delegation, led by the Special Adviser on Water Resources, Hon. Bukar Ngamdu, conveyed the governor’s heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Other members of the team included the Special Adviser on Youth and Sports, Hon. A.L. Kemdy; the Senior Special Assistant on Media, Hon. Baba Sheikh Haruna; and the State Chairman of the NUJ, Comrade Abdulkareem Haruna. Also in the entourage were officials and members of the Correspondents’ Chapel, including Bilyaminu Yusuf, Francis Okoye, and Hamisu Kabir Matazu.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Ngamdu stated that Governor Zulum was deeply saddened by the loss and shared in the family’s grief.
He noted that the governor had initially intended to attend the funeral personally but was unavoidably represented due to prior official engagements.
Hon. Ngamdu further described Comrade Ndahi as a dedicated journalist whose professional contributions have significantly supported the state’s developmental strides.
“Governor Zulum holds Comrade Ndahi in high esteem, recognising him as a friend of this administration. His commitment to the development of Borno through objective journalism is commendable, which is why the governor ensured the family was not left alone during this trying time,” Ngamdu said.
As part of the visit, the delegation presented a token of support from the governor to the family.
In his response, one of the senior members of the bereaved family and a cousin, Mr Eli Tonga Ndahi, expressed the family’s gratitude to the Borno state government for the show of love.
He thanked the delegation for undertaking the long journey to Marama to identify with his family.
He specifically lauded Governor Zulum for his exemplary leadership, noting that the governor has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of the people of Borno, particularly during their moments of bereavement and adversity.
Late Baba Inusa Yarami Ndahi, aged 96, died on 1st June, 2026, after a protracted illness.
