3 Die, Others Injured In Ogun Auto Crash

Three people have been confirmed dead and three others sustained life-threatening injuries in an accident that occurred on the Lagos-Ore-Benin Expressway.
The auto crash, which occurred a few metres before Babcock University Junction, on the expressway in the Ikenne local government area of Ogun State, involved an unmarked yellow colour industrial crane and a white colour Benz truck marked LG 59 BLF.
The spokesperson of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the accident, attributed the causes to over-speeding and driving against the traffic.
Akinbiyi explained that the industrial crane driver drove in the opposite direction, as prohibited by traffic regulations, and consequently had a head-on collision with the Benz truck, which was at top speed.
He said three people died on the spot while three others who sustained severe injuries were taken to the medical facility of Babcock University, which is in the neighbourhood.
He also explained that corpses of the dead persons were deposited at the morgue of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu.
