The Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the August 15 governorship election.
Abiodun described Adeleke’s re-election as a reflection of the choice of the people of Osun State, saying the outcome further demonstrated the strength and resilience of Nigeria’s democracy.
The governor commended the people of Osun State for maintaining peace before, during and after the election, urging all stakeholders to place the peace, unity and development of the state above partisan interests.
Abiodun also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for, according to him, demonstrating his commitment to democracy by providing a level playing field for all political parties and candidates that participated in the election.
He said the President’s commitment to democratic values and the independence of the electoral process had strengthened confidence in Nigeria’s democracy, while reaffirming the ballot as the most important instrument for determining the people’s choice.
The Ogun governor also congratulated all the candidates who contested the election, urging them and their supporters to accept the outcome in the spirit of sportsmanship.
He wished Adeleke a successful second term and expressed confidence that the governor would work with all stakeholders to advance the development and prosperity of Osun State.
As Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, Abiodun reaffirmed his commitment to promoting democratic values, good governance, peaceful coexistence and regional cooperation in the overall interest of the people of Southern Nigeria.
