Amori At  74: APC Forum Hails Political ‘Institution’, Backs Loyalty to Oborevwori

Amori At  74: APC Forum Hails Political ‘Institution’, Backs the APC Ethiope Federal Constituency Forum has described the Chief Adviser to Delta State Governor, Chief (Dr.) Senator Ighoyota Amori, as a political institution whose decades of experience, strategic networks and grassroots influence continue to contribute to political stability and effective governance in Delta State.

The Forum, in a glowing 74th birthday tribute to the former Senator, also commended what it described as Amori’s “unwavering loyalty and steadfast support” for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, saying the veteran politician’s political stature had remained an important asset to the administration and the wider political structure of the state.

In a goodwill message jointly signed by the Forum’s National Secretary and State Director of Protocol to the Governor, Chief Sunday Onoriode, and its National Publicity Secretary and Director-General, Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Olorogun (Dr.) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Esq., the group said Amori’s 74 years represented a remarkable journey of service, sacrifice, resilience and political survival.

The Forum described Amori as an accomplished statesman, pragmatic political strategist, bridge-builder, mentor and repository of political experience, stressing that his relevance in Delta politics was not merely a product of the offices he had occupied but the relationships, institutional knowledge and political capital accumulated over decades.

It said: “Chief Amori’s political journey is not defined merely by the offices he has occupied, but by the breadth of experience, relationships and institutional knowledge he has accumulated over the years.

“He has remained a major participant in the political development of Delta State and an influential voice in the affairs of the Urhobo nation.”

From student politics to Senate

Tracing his political trajectory, the Forum recalled Amori’s early involvement in student leadership at the University of Benin and his subsequent participation in grassroots and local government politics before rising to occupy several strategic positions in government.

It noted that during the administration of former Governor James Onanefe Ibori, Amori served at different times as Commissioner for Education, Political Adviser on political matters and Commissioner for Water Resources.

He subsequently served as Senior Political Adviser to former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and later represented Delta Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

The Forum said the succession of responsibilities had exposed Amori to virtually every critical dimension of political administration, including governance, policy implementation, grassroots mobilisation, stakeholder management, conflict resolution and political organisation.

It argued that his ability to remain relevant across successive administrations demonstrated a rare combination of political adaptability, experience, institutional memory and relationship-building.

‘Experience behind Oborevwori’s political engagement’

The Forum reserved particular praise for Amori’s current role as Chief Adviser to Governor Oborevwori, describing his appointment in January 2025 as an acknowledgement of the value of experience and mature political judgement in governance.

It said Amori had continued to deploy his political experience in supporting the administration’s engagement with stakeholders and citizens, as well as in strengthening political coordination around the Governor’s MORE Agenda.

According to the Forum, the veteran politician’s extensive contacts across political, traditional, community and grassroots structures have positioned him to play a significant role in sustaining dialogue and political cohesion.

The group further commended Amori for standing firmly behind Governor Oborevwori’s political leadership, describing his support as evidence of loyalty and commitment to the stability of the administration.

“His stature and experience have contributed to party cohesion, mobilisation and strategic engagement,” the Forum said.I

It added that Amori’s leadership of the Ethiope Federal Constituency political structure had further demonstrated his capacity to unite diverse interests and mobilise stakeholders around common political objectives.

‘Not just birthday, celebration of political institution’

The Forum said the celebration went beyond the conventional marking of another year in the life of an individual, insisting that Amori’s 74th birthday was an opportunity to acknowledge a political career that had influenced generations of political actors in Delta State.

“For us in the APC Ethiope Federal Constituency Forum, Chief Amori’s birthday is more than the celebration of an individual.

“It is a celebration of a political institution, a mentor, an elder statesman and a father figure whose contribution to the political development of our people has spanned generations,” it stated.

The Forum also acknowledged Amori’s contributions to the Urhobo nation, Delta State and Nigeria, describing his political longevity as a reflection of resilience, political sagacity and an enduring commitment to public service.

It said his capacity to navigate changing political circumstances without losing relevance was an indication of the depth of experience and relationships he had built over the years.

‘Delta still needs Amori’s experience’

The group stressed that Delta State and Nigeria still require the counsel of experienced political actors such as Amori, particularly at a time when political stability, effective stakeholder engagement and institutional continuity remain crucial to development.

It prayed God to grant the former Senator continued good health, wisdom, strength and many more years of purposeful service.

“Chief Amori, at 74, we salute your courage, resilience, political sagacity and commitment to service.

“We celebrate not only the years behind you, but the wisdom they represent and the lives and institutions touched by your journey,” the Forum declared.

The APC Ethiope Federal Constituency Forum, on behalf of its leadership and members, wished Chief (Dr.) Senator Ighoyota Amori a happy 74th birthday and many more years of good health, wisdom and continued service to humanity.
