The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, has marked his 58th birthday with a free medical and surgical outreach in Taraba State, providing healthcare services to residents across the state.
The outreach, held at designated centres in the state’s senatorial districts, offers medical consultations, diagnostic screening, laboratory tests, surgical procedures and referrals for patients requiring advanced care.
Speaking during the programme at the First Referral Hospital, Sunkani, in Ardo Kola Local Government Area, the Northern Senatorial District Site Coordinator, Dr. Golis William, said the initiative aims to improve access to healthcare for underserved communities.
According to him, about 200 patients received medical consultations on the first day of the exercise, while four surgical procedures were successfully carried out. He added that more beneficiaries are expected as the outreach continues.
Dr. William said the services are provided free of charge to all residents, regardless of political, religious or ethnic affiliation.Some beneficiaries, including Samuel Ishaku and Ramata Samila, commended Yilwatda for organising the outreach, saying it had enabled many people who could not afford medical treatment to access healthcare services.
The organisers said teams of volunteer doctors, surgeons and other healthcare professionals are participating in the programme, which is expected to continue over the coming days to reach more residents across Taraba State.
