The exchange followed concerns from some Nigerians over whether the singer would return to Nigeria in time to participate in the election and support his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election. The 2026 Osun governorship election is scheduled for August 15.
A media user reportedly questioned Davidoโs plans to vote after the singer was seen in London, prompting the entertainer to hit back with a response explaining that his presence in the United Kingdom would not prevent him from being in Osun in time for the election.
Davido reportedly stated that he would be in Osun before 7 a.m. after coming straight from his London performance, effectively dismissing the suggestion that he would be unable to participate in the election.
Thepe has generated reactions online, with supporters praising the singer for making his position clear, while others questioned his involvement in the political process given his close family ties to the incumbent governor.
Davido has been openly campaigning for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the poll and has used his considerable social media influence to encourage voters to participate peacefully.
