FG Targets Higher FDI With Maiden Nigeria Now Global Investors Expo

The federal government is seeking to attract higher foreign direct investment (FDI) through the maiden Nigeria Now Global Investors Expo 2026 as part of efforts to increase investment across key sectors of the economy.

The event, organised by EnergyNet Limited, is scheduled for November and will focus on investment opportunities in mining, power, infrastructure, manufacturing, oil and gas, technology and other sectors.

Speaking at a pre-event briefing in Abuja on Thursday, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, represented by the Director-General of the Mining Cadastre Office (MCO), Obadiah Simon Nkom, said the government’s support for the expo is consistent with its economic diversification agenda.

He said Nigeria was working to reduce its dependence on a narrow revenue base by expanding activities in mining, power, manufacturing, infrastructure, oil and gas, trade and investment.

According to him, investment in the mining sector depends on supporting infrastructure such as electricity, transport networks, processing facilities, financing and an effective regulatory framework.

He added that the government was implementing measures to increase value addition in the solid minerals sector and encourage manufacturing and job creation.

Alake said the expo will provide participants with information on investment projects, government policies and partnership opportunities.

Also speaking, the Director of Mines Environmental Compliance, Dr. Vivian Okono, who represented the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Engr. Faruk Yusuf Yabo, said the event would bring together government institutions, investors and businesses for discussions on investment.

Speaking on behalf of the organisers, Abdoullahi Sylla, Portfolio Manager and Head of Corporate Development at EnergyNet Limited, said recent economic reforms had created an opportunity to strengthen investment activities.

He said the event would cover investment opportunities across several sectors of the economy and facilitate discussions among government officials, investors and development finance institutions.

Sylla also said the organisers were collaborating with government agencies, industry groups, educational institutions and civil society organisations on a youth-focused initiative aimed at connecting young Nigerians with opportunities in different sectors of the economy.
