Gov Buni Approves 4 New Markets In Yobe

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has approved the construction of four additional modern markets across the state to boost commerce, create jobs and improve the business environment.

The new markets will be located in Bumsa town in Gulani local government area (LGA), Sabon Garin Nangere in Nangere LGA, Girgir town in Jakusko LGA and Ngelzarma town in Fune LGA.
The projects were announced in a newspaper advertisement published by the Yobe State Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Tourism and Solid Minerals and signed by the permanent secretary, Alhaji Zanna Ibrahim Ali.

The ministry said the markets are being designed to provide modern trading facilities, promote rural and urban commerce, attract investment and improve the livelihoods of traders and host communities.
The latest approval adds to the state government’s ongoing investment in commercial infrastructure under the Buni administration.

Since assuming office, the governor has completed the Damaturu Modern Market, Potiskum Modern Market, Nguru Modern Market, Gashua Modern Market, Ngalda Modern Market and Yunusari Modern Market.

The Potiskum, Ngalda and Yunusari markets were also provided with supporting infrastructure to enhance their operations.

The construction of the Geidam Modern Market has reached more than 90 per cent completion, while work is ongoing at the Machina, Buni Yadi and Yusufari modern markets.

With the approval of the four new projects, the Buni administration will have initiated the construction of 14 modern markets across the state, in what the government described as part of its strategy to strengthen trade, stimulate economic activities and bring development closer to communities.
