The Recording Academy, organizers of the Grammy Awards, has removed performance videos of global K-pop group BTS from its official website.
According to reports, the group announced its decision in protest of the newly created “Best Asian Pop Music Performance” category, stating a preference for music to be recognized without regional or language-based classifications.
While Recording Academy Chief Executive Officer Harvey Mason Jr. publicly expressed respect for the band’s choice, the organization has not issued an official statement regarding the specific removal of the videos from its website.
