Celebrity Nigerian chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has threatened legal action against Nigerian singer Seyi Vibez over comments he allegedly made about her during his ongoing dispute with music executive Damilola Akinwunmi, popularly known as Dapper.
The controversy emerged amid a public disagreement between Dapper and some of his former record label artistes over alleged royalty payments and missing funds.
Former Dapper Music signees, including Seyi Vibez, Shallipopi and T.I Blaze, have previously raised concerns about their dealings with the record label boss, with allegations involving unpaid royalties and approximately N1 billion in missing funds forming part of the wider online dispute.
As the disagreement escalated on X, Seyi Vibez reportedly dragged Hilda Baci into the controversy.
The singer allegedly claimed that Dapper spent money from the artistes’ music catalogue on Hilda Baci’s cosmetic surgery, specifically alleging that catalogue funds were used for her BBL. He also made a separate comment about food prepared by the celebrity chef, claiming that it almost caused him serious harm.
Hilda Baci has now responded through her legal representatives, describing the statements as defamatory and warning Seyi Vibez that she could pursue legal action if he fails to comply with her demands.
In a legal warning letter sent to Seyi Vibez, Hilda’s lawyers accused the singer of libel and defamation over the publications attributed to him.
The letter demanded that the singer immediately remove the alleged defamatory statements from his social media platforms.
Her legal team also requested that Seyi Vibez issue a public apology and retraction over the claims.
“In light of the foregoing, we hereby demand that upon receipt of this letter, you immediately remove and permanently delete the above-referenced publications together with any other statement, post, comment, image, video and repost,” the letter stated.
Hilda’s lawyers further demanded that the apology be published prominently across all of Seyi Vibez’s social media accounts.
The legal representatives gave the singer three days to comply with the demands.
“Within three days of your receipt of this letter, we further demand that you provide a written undertaking confirming that you shall henceforth cease from publishing or communicating any defamatory content concerning our client,” the letter added.
The development has generated significant reactions online because Hilda Baci was not initially at the centre of the dispute between Seyi Vibez and Dapper Music.
The latest dispute is connected to a broader disagreement involving Dapper Music and some of its former artistes.
Seyi Vibez, Shallipopi and T.I Blaze have previously spoken publicly about their experiences with the record label and raised questions surrounding music royalties, catalogue ownership and payments.
The allegations have sparked heated discussions within Nigeria’s entertainment industry, particularly around the contractual relationships between artistes and record labels.
Shallipopi also recently made serious allegations against Dapper, claiming that his signature was allegedly forged on a long-term distribution agreement and that his music catalogue was allegedly sold to an international company without his consent.
Dapper Music has faced increasing scrutiny as the artistes’ allegations continue to circulate online.
However, the various allegations remain claims from the parties involved and should not be interpreted as facts unless proven through the appropriate legal or investigative process.
For Hilda Baci, the issue has now moved beyond social media exchanges, with her legal team formally demanding that the alleged publications be taken down and that Seyi Vibez publicly retract the statements.
