Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has revealed that he earns a monthly salary of N503,000, adding that Permanent Secretaries in the state now earn more than him.
Oborevwori made the disclosure while speaking at a recent event in Asaba, where he highlighted the state’s implementation of the new minimum wage and salary structure.
“You will also recall that we were one of the first states that implemented the minimum wage. Today, a Permanent Secretary’s salary is more than the governor’s. Your salary is N900,000; my salary is N503,000. Head of Service is N1 million,” he said.
According to the governor, a Permanent Secretary in Delta State earns N900,000 monthly, while the Head of Service receives N1 million.
Delta State is one of Nigeria’s oil-producing states and receives statutory allocations as well as the 13 per cent derivation revenue for oil-producing states.
The governor’s salary disclosure has since generated reactions online, with some Nigerians questioning whether his stated monthly salary represents his complete financial benefits as governor.
