The **Oba Francis Olushola Alao**, has reaffirmed his authority over communities within his domain, firmly rejecting the existence of any traditional title known as “Soun of Ogbomosoland.”
Speaking during a meeting with chiefs and Baales at his palace, the monarch described the title as “a blatant lie,” urging stakeholders to verify official records with the **Oyo State Government**.
He maintained that constitutionally, the jurisdiction of the **Soun of Ogbomoso** is limited to **Ogbomoso North**, stressing that any broader claim lacks legal and traditional backing.
Oba Alao emphasized the importance of respecting established territorial and traditional boundaries among monarchs. According to him, peaceful coexistence depends on non-interference in another ruler’s domain, including matters relating to land and chieftaincy.
Addressing a recent controversy involving three suspended Baales, the Olugbon insisted they remain under his jurisdiction. He disclosed that their chieftaincy titles had been withdrawn, describing them as minor chiefs subject to his authority.
The monarch also claimed to possess photographic evidence linking the Baales to a meeting with the **Oba Ghandi Olaoye**, which he suggested contributed to the dispute.
Despite the disciplinary action, Oba Alao extended an olive branch, stating that his palace remains open to the affected Baales. He invited them to submit formal appeals for reconsideration, noting that a committee would be set up to review their cases and make recommendations.
The Olugbon further called for **Oba Ghandi Olaoye** to be “called to order,” urging all traditional rulers to respect constitutional and customary limits of their authority to avoid escalating tensions.
The development underscores ongoing sensitivities around jurisdiction and authority within traditional institutions in **Oyo State**, where historical boundaries and modern governance frameworks continue to intersect.
