Former OnlyFans model Courtney Clenney has received a six-year prison sentence after entering a guilty plea to manslaughter in the 2022 stabbing death of her boyfriend, Christian Obumseli.
Clenney, who had originally faced a second-degree murder charge, accepted a plea bargain in a Miami courtroom on Monday.
The agreement mandates six years of incarceration followed by five years of supervised release.
As conditions of her sentence, she must complete mental health and substance abuse assessments and undergo treatment following her release.
The deal also stipulates that she cannot derive financial gain from the circumstances of the case.
Obumseli was fatally stabbed in the couple’s Miami apartment in April 2022.
Clenney was detained in Hawaii days later and initially charged with second-degree murder.
She contended that her actions constituted self-defense, claiming that Obumseli had subjected her to abuse.
Her legal representative previously maintained that she had discarded the knife as a protective measure.
However, the family’s attorney rejected this characterisation, arguing it contradicted logical reasoning and the physical evidence regarding how deeply the knife had penetrated.
The case garnered substantial public interest, with video footage of a confrontation between the couple presented during proceedings and additional evidence released following Clenney’s arrest revealing the turbulent dynamics of their relationship.
A plea agreement was announced at the end of July as the trial approached.
The Obumseli family’s legal counsel responded to the settlement by stating that accepting responsibility through the guilty plea initiates the path toward closure for the family following a profoundly tragic and transformative occurrence.
