All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, has given a positive assessment of the conduct of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election, where he commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the early delivery of materials and security agencies for maintaining order at polling centres.
Basiru spoke after casting his ballot alongside his wife, Abibat, at Ward 7, Unit 3, in Osogbo Local Government Area.
The couple arrived at the polling unit at about 8:45 a.m., shortly after voting began, and participated in the exercise.
Basiru said INEC’s timely deployment of electoral materials and personnel had helped facilitate the voting process across the state.

He also praised voters for turning out in significant numbers, and said the participation reflected their commitment to democratic governance.
The APC national secretary singled out the security agencies for their arrangements. He noted that the presence of personnel at polling locations had contributed to what he called a peaceful and orderly atmosphere.
Basiru characterised the voting process at his polling unit as calm and hitch-free. He expressed confidence that the exercise would produce a free, fair, and credible outcome.
His assessment came as voting continued at polling centres across Osun agba time of heightened security and strong voter participation.
The APC chieftain also used the occasion to signal confidence in his party’s prospects, expressing the expectation that the APC would emerge victorious when the votes are counted and the final result declared.
The statement places Basiru’s assessment of the election alongside contrasting accounts from other political actors and voters across the state. While some participants have raised concerns about alleged intimidation and vote-buying in parts of Osun, Basiru reported a different experience at his voting point, where he said the process proceeded without disruption.
The election is being conducted across the state as voters choose among candidates seeking control of the Osun State Government House.
Basiru’s participation also comes at a crucial stage of the contest. Now, political parties and their supporters are closely watching turnouts, security arrangements, and the handling of electoral materials as voting progresses.
As far as Bashiru is concerned, the early signs at his polling unit offered grounds for optimism. He maintained that the combination of prompt electoral logistics, voter participation, and visible security presence had created conditions conducive to orderly voting.
