The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspected human parts merchants in Iseyin and Saki areas of the state after several months of intelligence gathering, surveillance and monitoring, with suspected human parts and charms recovered from their hideouts, the Command revealed via X on 15 August 2026.
The arrests were made by operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit as part of an investigation into suspected dealings in human parts for ritual purposes.

The operation has also led investigators to examine how the recovered items were obtained and where they were intended to be taken.
The police said the suspects confessed to different forms of involvement in the alleged trade. Investigators are now working to establish the source of the items and identify other people who may be connected to the group.
Police recover suspected human remains
The 10 suspects arrested are Adam Ibrahim, 42; Nasiru Kabiru, 22; Tijani Wasiu, 54; Abiola Nasiru, 45; Amusa Gbadamosi, 57; Raheem Taofeek, 46; Jimoh Muritala, 35; Suleiman Busari, 47; Ganiyu Nurudeen, 36; and Usman Abdullahi, 52.
Searches were carried out at their hideouts after the arrests. Police said the searches produced one suspected human heart, human flesh, pieces of human skull and assorted charms.
The recovered materials have been secured for forensic examination. The testing is part of the investigation into the nature of the items and their possible source.
Police said the suspects are assisting investigators with information on the procurement and intended use of the recovered materials.
Their accounts are also being examined as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged activities.
Investigation expands to possible accomplices
The operation followed months of intelligence gathering, discreet surveillance and close monitoring of the suspects. Police said the work eventually led officers to the different hideouts in Iseyin and Saki where the arrests were made.
The Command is also working to identify and arrest other members of the alleged syndicate. The investigation will cover the source of the suspected human parts, how they were obtained and the people connected to their intended use.
Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, PSC, mnips, commended the Monitoring Unit operatives for the operation.
He said the Command would continue working to rid the state of criminal elements and protect human life.
The Commissioner also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could help prevent and detect criminal activities in the state.
