Oyo Police Bust Alleged Human Parts Network, Arrest 10 in Iseyin, Saki…suspected human heart, flesh, skull fragments, charms recovered
Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested 10 suspects over alleged involvement in the trading of human parts, with suspected human remains and charms recovered during raids in Iseyin and Saki areas of the state.
The arrests followed months of intelligence gathering and discreet surveillance by the command’s monitoring unit, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade.
Ayanlade, who disclosed the development in a statement issued to journalists in Ibadan on Saturday, said the suspects were arrested at different locations following investigations into the alleged network.
During searches of the suspects’ hideouts, police said they recovered items believed to be human parts, including what appeared to be a human heart, human flesh and fragments of a human skull.
Several charms were also reportedly recovered during the operation.
The police said the recovered items had been taken into custody for forensic examination to establish their identity and determine whether they are human remains.
Investigators are also questioning the suspects over the alleged source of the materials, how they were obtained and their intended use.
The command said investigations were ongoing, with efforts intensified to identify and arrest other suspected members of the alleged network.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Abimbola Olugbenga, assured residents that the command would continue to intensify operations against criminal networks involved in activities threatening human life and public safety.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and provide useful information that could assist security agencies in dismantling criminal networks across the state.
