On Wednesday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said it wants a full, open probe into a viral video of Senator Francis Fadahunsi. In the clip, Fadahunsi was heard warning that people could be killed up to election day.
The PDP made the demand in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, as it accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of using violent language that could threaten peaceful elections in Osun State and Nigeria.
The party said the Fadahunsi incident must be investigated alongside other threats to peaceful and transparent elections in Osun State.

The statement attributed to Fadahunsi was contained in a viral video. In the video, Fadahunsi was heard saying: “So, we have come to tell you, up till the day of the election, if we see them, it is killing.”
The PDP said the comment was unacceptable and should not be treated as ordinary political speech. It said political communication should be civil and elections should allow voters to freely choose their leaders through the ballot.
PDP ties threat to election conduct
The party’s response placed the Fadahunsi video within a larger complaint about the language used by the APC and its leaders.
The PDP cited past comments attributed to the APC’s presidential candidate, including: “Political power is not going to be served in a restaurant… At all cost, fight for it, grab it, and run with it” and “all is fair in politics”.
The opposition party said such statements, alongside the Fadahunsi video, had contributed to what it called unprecedented political tension in the country.
The PDP said elections were not designed as a do-or-die contest. It said they should provide an opportunity for Nigerians to choose their leaders freely.
Its complaint was not limited to the senator’s reported words. The party demanded an investigation into the Fadahunsi incident and other threats connected with peaceful and transparent elections in Osun State.
The party also said the President, APC and their officials should stop using threats and anti-democratic narratives as political communication.
Party wants ballot protected
The PDP said the central issue was the protection of voters’ ability to make their choices freely.
It said the country’s elections should be conducted in a manner that allows the result to show the will of the people as expressed through their votes.
The party also said political parties and government must accept what it called the “irreducible minimum” needed for democracy and the country to survive.
That minimum includes civility in political communication and an election process free from threats that could affect voters or political opponents.
The party said the government and all political parties must adhere to those conditions in the interest of democracy and Nigeria.
