Police Arrest Man Over Defilement Of Eight-Month-Old Stepdaughter In Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a man, Balarabe Adamu, over the alleged defilement of his eight-month-old stepdaughter in Toro Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu.

According to the statement, the police received a report on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at about 5:34pm alleging that Adamu, a resident of Lame in Toro LGA, sexually abused his stepdaughter after the child was brought to his residence by his wife.

The victim was subsequently taken to the General Hospital, Toro, for medical examination and treatment.

The statement said operatives attached to the Gumau Division responded to the report and arrested the suspect, who is currently in police custody undergoing investigation.

“Upon receipt of the report, operatives attached to Gumau Division swiftly responded and arrested the suspect. He is currently in custody and undergoing investigation,” the statement said.

The Commissioner of Police condemned the alleged act and assured the public that the matter would be thoroughly investigated.

Aliyu said the suspect would be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation, in accordance with the law.

The command reiterated its zero-tolerance stance towards sexual violence and child abuse, urging parents, guardians and community leaders to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

It added that further developments on the case would be made public in due course.
