PoS Operator Nabbed Over Sexual Assault Of 14-year-old Girl In Kwara

The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 36-year-old Point-of-Sale (PoS) operator, AbdulGaniyu AbdulRahman, over the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in Ilorin, the state capital.

The spokesperson of the NSCDC in the state, Ayoola Michael disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

He said that the suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged by the father of the victim at the NSCDC’s Gender Unit, alleging that his 14-year-old daughter had been repeatedly sexually assaulted by the suspect.

Michael added that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, who operates a PoS business at Alfa Yahaya, Adeta Ilorin, became acquainted with the victim through his business premises.

“It was further alleged that he repeatedly lured the victim to his PoS shop and an uncompleted building, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her on different occasions,” he said.

He said that investigation further revealed that the suspect allegedly threatened to kill the victim if she disclosed the incidents to anyone, a threat which allegedly instilled fear and prevented the victim from reporting the abuse for some time.

According to the statement, the victim further disclosed that, on one occasion, the suspect gave her a locally prepared herbal concoction, which he instructed her to drink.

She stated that she subsequently felt weak and disoriented.

“As part of the investigation, the victim underwent a medical examination, which revealed evidence of prior hymenal injury related to sexual activity. Upon the conclusion of the investigation, the suspect will be charged to court,” Michael stated.
