Primate Ayodele Reveals What Tinubu Will Do To Lagos If Re-elected In 2027
The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu could relocate Nigeria’s capital from Abuja to Lagos if he secures a second term in office in the 2027 presidential election.
Ayodele made the claim in a video shared on X while speaking about the political implications of Tinubu’s possible victory in the forthcoming poll.
According to the cleric, Lagos would undergo significant structural changes under a second Tinubu administration, with the state potentially becoming the country’s seat of government.
“Lagos architecture will change. You may not see this one very seriously, but if Tinubu wins the second time, the capital of Nigeria will be relocated to Lagos,” Ayodele said.
He added that the new capital could be situated in any part of Lagos State, including Epe or Lekki.
“When this happens, the capital can be in Epe or Lekki or anywhere at all in Lagos,” he stated.
Tinubu, who is seeking reelection on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, is facing a number of opposition contenders in the 2027 presidential race, including former vice president, Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra state governor, Peter Obi.
Recall that Ayodele had earlier warned that Tinubu could face serious political setbacks if he fails to reassess those surrounding his administration ahead of the election.
The cleric had earlier alleged that the President was relying on political allies, including some governors, who could eventually disappoint him.
In a statement by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Ayodele claimed that Tinubu had been “blindfolded spiritually” and was surrounded by individuals who were misleading him about his electoral prospects.
He argued that the President did not currently have a firm grip on his administration and warned against depending excessively on governors for electoral support.
“Tinubu doesn’t have a grip on his government at the moment except he sees reliable people, but I don’t see those people with him,” he said.
“He is still relying on governors that will disappoint him because not even all of them will win their states.”
Ayodele further warned that Tinubu’s perceived reliance on the United States and France could affect his administration’s electoral prospects.
He said the 2027 election would be shaped by factors beyond political structures and financial resources, insisting that the opposition could pose a serious threat if it adopted the right strategy.
“It is only if the opposition doesn’t work along the line that the president will come back; if not, it will be very difficult,” Ayodele said.
He also claimed that even the Independent National Electoral Commission would not be able to guarantee Tinubu victory, while pointing to what he described as dissatisfaction in parts of northern Nigeria.
“What is on the ground is serious, and the north isn’t settled at all; the northerners will show themselves at the 11th hour,” he added.
Ayodele also weighed in on the opposition’s presidential configuration, particularly the ticket involving Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
He predicted that the pairing would struggle to make a significant impact in the 2027 election, attributing this to what he described as a strategic mistake by the political platform backing their ambition.
According to him, the opposition would have been better positioned by joining forces with the African Democratic Congress rather than pursuing a separate political platform.
“You see the NDC party in Nigeria, assuming you can listen. Instead of you going as a solo party, you would have merged with the ADC and form a coalition,” he said.
Ayodele maintained that the decision to contest independently had weakened the platform’s prospects.
“But you alone going solo, NDC is not in the calculation. They call it OK but I’m not seeing anything okay. I do not see ‘OK’ (Obi and Kwankwaso) going anywhere in the 2027 Presidential election,” he added.
