The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has directed pastors and ministers of the church to remain politically neutral, stressing that church pulpits must never be turned into campaign platforms for politicians.
Addressing pastors and ministers on Saturday night at the Ministers’ Conference ahead of the church’s 2026 Annual Convention, Pastor Adeboye said that while the RCCG remains open to members of all political parties and politicians, they should only be received warmly and prayed for without allowing them to campaign in the church.
He cautioned ministers against using their positions to influence the political choices of members, insisting that it is not the responsibility of pastors to tell their congregations who to vote for.
“The Redeemed Christian Church of God remains open to all political parties, and any politician who comes to us must be treated warmly and be prayed for. You must not turn our pulpit into a campaign venue,” he said.
“If they come, we welcome them, but don’t turn our pulpit into a campaign venue. It is not your duty as a pastor to tell your congregation who to vote for. Our own is that they should vote according to their own persuasion.”
The revered cleric reminded ministers that political power ultimately belongs to God, urging them to remain focused on their spiritual mandate rather than partisan interests.
“The Almighty reigns and rules in the affairs of men. He gives power to whomsoever He pleases,” Adeboye declared.
His remarks come as political activities continue to gather momentum across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections, with religious organisations increasingly being urged to preserve the sanctity of their worship centres and avoid partisan involvement.
