The celebrations, which commenced on Monday, August 3, 2026, featured a birthday thanksgiving, a ceremonial Pull-Out Parade at the Anambra State Police Command Headquarters in Awka, and a State Executive Council send-forth ceremony organised by the Anambra State Government.

The birthday celebration attracted heads of sister security agencies, government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, retired senior police officers, family members, and other stakeholders, who offered prayers and goodwill messages in appreciation of Orutugu’s decades of dedicated service to the nation.

At the State Executive Council send-forth ceremony held on Tuesday, August 4, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, and members of the state executive council praised Orutugu’s outstanding contributions to security, peace, and public safety in Anambra State.

The governor described the retired police chief as an exceptional officer whose tenure strengthened police-community relations, enhanced inter-agency collaboration, deepened strategic security partnerships, and recorded significant operational successes against crime and criminality.
