Tinubu Practices Muslim-Christian Ticket With Remi in the Other Room – Kwankwaso Spills

- Rabiu Kwankwaso has criticised calls for a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 election, using President Bola Tinubu’s political history and marriage to Remi Tinubu as examples of what he described as religious balance.
- According to Kwankwaso, Tinubu maintained a balance between Muslims and Christians while serving as governor of Lagos State, particularly in his choice of deputy governors.
NDC presidential running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has criticised calls for another Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket in the 2027 election, saying President Bola Tinubu has consistently supported religious balance in politics.
Kwankwaso was reacting to a recent call by Islamic cleric Sani Jingir for Nigerians to support a Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2027, following the APC’s decision to field a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket in the 2023 election.
According to Kwankwaso, Tinubu maintained a balance between Muslims and Christians while serving as governor of Lagos State, particularly in his choice of deputy governors.
“I know His Excellency Bola Tinubu is a man who values balance and fairness. For all the governors he supported in Lagos, he ensured a Muslim/Christian or Christian/Muslim ticket. Even when he was the governor of Lagos, all his deputies were Christians.
“Even in his own home, he practices a Muslim/Christian ticket ‘in the other room(Tinubu/Remi).”
The comment, however, drew mixed reactions on social media, with some users questioning Kwankwaso’s position and others mocking his reference to Tinubu’s marriage.
